It's water resistant with a fleece lining - kept him nice and toasty on a nasty day.

Yep - Spanky is pretty good about staying on trail. An animal can get him stirred up but a simple "NO" from me will stop him in his tracks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-856588699573386682.post-66753746031536911952007-07-26T23:23:00.000-05:002007-07-26T23:23:00.000-05:00Rein, does Spanky have rain gear? Also, how old is he?

My own dog (32 lb mixed hound, mainly American Foxhound) and I have been up to Hawksbill (highest peak in Shenandoah N.P., VA), Seneca Rock (WV), and hiked up to spectacular Cliff Lake (9500 ft, about 800 ft below the summit of Reading Peak in Kings Canyon National Forest Dinkey Wilderness Area in California's Sierra Nevada Mtns).

Still, I doubt that my dog and I could make some of the hikes that you have. Dog is 7 years old and, even when younger, she has gotten quite cold when camping in rain at 55 to 60 degrees. Also, I wouldn't dare let my scent hound dog run free because she would take off after the nearest squirrel, rabbit, etc. and it would take a long time to recover her.

Great photos and stories. Way to go!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-856588699573386682.post-88641656656863043422007-07-10T17:31:00.000-05:002007-07-10T17:31:00.000-05:00Great blog and pics! I can’t even get my dogs to go poop in the backyard without putting them on a leash or bribing them with treats. It was refreshing to tag along with you guys through your story. Hope to see you guys soon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-856588699573386682.post-41851658841519042262007-07-08T19:53:00.000-05:002007-07-08T19:53:00.000-05:00Rein...you and Spanky were in Glavin territory!! M...Rein...you and Spanky were in Glavin territory!! Marty's Dad lives in Cranberry Lake and would have loved a visitor...or two! Plus I might add that Marty and I have climbed Whiteface. Granted it was a day in August and we climbed much of it in a car!! But I seem to remember we did a few hundred yards by foot. Keep in mind we are two people not so keen on heights. So we were doing great in our own minds. Have fun! KimAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
